World TB Day 2024 Medical Outreach

The Zeeb Healthcare Development Initiative organized a medical outreach event on World TB Day at Biseni Clan in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The initiative received support from The Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and Buruli Ulcer Program, as well as Heartland Alliance Bayelsa State.

Event Highlights:

-Participant Turnout: The event saw a remarkable turnout, with 120 participants comprising individuals of various age groups, including the elderly, youths, and children.

– Free TB Testing: One of the primary objectives of the outreach was to provide free TB testing to the community members. A significant number of attendees availed themselves of this service, contributing to early detection and treatment of TB cases.

– HIV Screening: In addition to TB testing, the event offered free HIV screening services. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and encourage individuals to know their status, thereby promoting early intervention and support.

– Community Engagement: The outreach fostered community engagement and participation, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in combating infectious diseases like TB and HIV/AIDS.

– Educational Sessions: Health professionals conducted educational sessions to disseminate information about TB prevention, symptoms, treatment, and the importance of adherence to medication. Similar sessions were held to address HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention strategies, and available support services.
