ZEEB Healthcare Development Initiative (ZHDI), under the visionary leadership of Team Lead MLS Loveday Zebedee Udu, took center stage at the 11th Induction and Oath Taking Ceremony of Medical Laboratory Science graduands at Niger Delta University. The event celebrated excellence, marked by prestigious awards presented by ZHDI.
Exceptional Minds Recognized: ZHDI’s Award of Academic Excellence honored MLS Treasure Igbogi and MLS Peter Iganboh, who achieved a remarkable 4.55 CGPA, showcasing their dedication to academic greatness.
Serving with Compassion: The Award of Service recognized MLS Ofuele Ijeoma Favour, MLS Forokara Charity Woyingikinumunimi, and MLS Gbarale Nornubari Pleasant for their tireless humanitarian efforts in community outreaches.
Special Recognition: ZHDI also honored the erudite Professor Tatfeng Y. Mirabeau for his invaluable contributions to the organization.
The ceremony highlighted the noble essence of Medical Laboratory Science, demanding integrity, innovation, and excellence. ZHDI reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing young talent, promoting continuous learning, and driving impactful healthcare initiatives.

TB Network Visit
Zeeb Healthcare Development Initiative had the privilege of hosting the National Coordinator of the TB Network, Mrs. Akani, and her team at our office for the IHVN TB Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) Project pre-assessment exercise.
This exercise was designed to verify and ascertain ZHDI’s readiness for the upcoming grant implementation activities. Our Program Manager, Finance Officer, M&E team, LGA coordinator, and volunteers were fully present and actively participated in the verification process.
This visit marks a key milestone in our journey to strengthening Tuberculosis interventions in our communities — and we are ready for the task ahead!

World Malaria Day Free Medical Outreach – Testing, Distribution of Malaria Drugs, Medical Education and Awareness on Malaria Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment, Free Malaria Vaccination.
Introduction:
World Malaria Day, observed annually is a global platform to raise awareness about malaria, highlight progress made in the fight against this preventable and treatable disease. In commemoration of the World Malaria Day 2025, our team organized a targeted free medical outreach at Swali market, Yenagoa – Bayelsa State aimed at enhancing community awareness, offering essential diagnostic and treatment services and providing preventive tools to vulnerable populations. This report outlines the outcomes and impact of these medical outreaches, which aims to reach and educate individuals about Malaria prevention and treatment.
Outreach Overview:
Total Number of Beneficiaries = 261
Total Number of Malaria Drugs Distributed = 200
Total Number of Individuals Treated = 200
No. of pregnant women tested = 24
Key Components of the Outreach:
The key components of the outreach features free malaria testing and treatment, community sensitization sessions on malaria prevention, early detection, and treatment. Also, there was health talks which focused on the importance of sanitization, and mosquito control and the referral of complicated or severe cases to nearly health facilities for further care. The outreach successfully reached over 200 individuals including children under five, pregnant women and the elderly, all of whom are considered as high-risk populations. Collaborative efforts from the Bayelsa State Ministry of Health, healthcare stakeholders, community leaders and market unions, played a crucial role in mobilizing community participation and the overall smooth execution of all planned activities.
Individuals Tested:
A total of 260 individuals were tested during the outreach. This is a crucial aspect of our efforts to combat malaria since it helps identify individuals who may have the disease so as to begin immediate treatment. Testing is a crucial step towards providing appropriate care and treatment, as well as foster prevention.
Education and Sensitization:
The outreached also featured public health talks, awareness campaigns, road walk and the distribution of educational materials with a focus to drive malaria prevention, testing and early treatment and control.
Challenges:
Local communities are often skeptical to welcoming healthcare providers due to misconceptions about medical interventions, which requires and results in additional mobilization and sensitization efforts.
Logistical limitations due to financial constraints led to delays which affected timely setup and high cost of testing kits and treatment outpaced initial supplies, leading to manageable shortfalls.
Recommendations:
The World Malaria Day 2025 medical outreach served as a vital step in the fight against malaria, particularly within underserved communities. Through targeted testing, treatment, and sensitization efforts, the ZHDI not only addressed immediate health needs but also empowered individuals with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves against malaria. Despite facing logistical and other challenges, ZHDI demonstrated the power of collaboration, community engagement, and health education in driving positive change.

The Zeeb Healthcare Development Initiative organized a medical outreach event on World TB Day at Biseni Clan in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The initiative received support from The Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and Buruli Ulcer Program, as well as Heartland Alliance Bayelsa State.
Event Highlights:
-Participant Turnout: The event saw a remarkable turnout, with 120 participants comprising individuals of various age groups, including the elderly, youths, and children.
– Free TB Testing: One of the primary objectives of the outreach was to provide free TB testing to the community members. A significant number of attendees availed themselves of this service, contributing to early detection and treatment of TB cases.
– HIV Screening: In addition to TB testing, the event offered free HIV screening services. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and encourage individuals to know their status, thereby promoting early intervention and support.
– Community Engagement: The outreach fostered community engagement and participation, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in combating infectious diseases like TB and HIV/AIDS.
– Educational Sessions: Health professionals conducted educational sessions to disseminate information about TB prevention, symptoms, treatment, and the importance of adherence to medication. Similar sessions were held to address HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention strategies, and available support services.
